The surrounding of the ICC Congress Center is characterized by infrastructure. Highways, railway tracks, parking lots and allotments shape the area. Beside all the noise and traffic, one could reinterpret and romanticize the brutal concrete lanes of the highway, the vast valley of train tracks and the seclusion of the scene as something pleasant. The places in between the traffic lanes are small and hardly reachable by foot, but still plenty in their numbers. The question arrises: how to deal with those lost places within the city? The design is proposing nine studio apartments for artists in resident, using this unique location for a certain time to work and craft apart from the distracting city. It was developed mostly on the basis of the cross section. The lowest part of the building, where the living spaces are located, is facing the vast tales of railways. The shared common area above orients itself to the other side, facing the highway. The corridor not only works as a connection through the building, but also serve as a space for exhibitions. On top, a large shared atelier forms the character of the design, giving it an appearance of a sculpture itself.
